SAFETY ALERT NOTICE Use a step stool or ladder to access elevated areas or bulletin boards. NEVER stand on chairs, desks, boxes, etc. Falls from chairs and other objects have resulted in serious injury. You Will Be Involved In Closing Down Your Classroom For The Summer In The Next Few Weeks. Teachers have sustained injuries in the past years during this process. Here are some Safety Tips to help you in safely closing down your classroom.

Safety Alert Notice Review the stability of objects on shelves overhead before removing. Objects that are not stable may unexpectedly fall. Boxes should be loaded no heavier than the weight you can safely lift. Use medium and small boxes to restrict the weight. Make additional trips to load up your boxes rather than straining to make one less trip.

Safety Alert Notice Use proper Lifting techniques. Bend your knees Lift with your legs, not your back Ask for assistance and provide others with help. Work as a team in moving items. Use carts and dollies if you have several items or if they must be moved out of the classroom.

Safety Alert Notice Load boxes on a table to reduce bending. If a job requires prolonged bending or kneeling, break it up in to short period with breaks. Listen to your body. It will tell you when it needs a break.

Safety Alert Notice Look out for slip/trip hazards. Keep areas of travel clear. Beware of insects. Remember, spiders like dark, cool areas. Do not work in the building alone. You should always be with others for emergency and security reasons.

Safety Alert Notice Beware of signs of heat exhaustion. Drink plenty of fluids and take breaks. HAVE A SAFE SUMMER!
