Educational Software United States History

Drills and Practice Quizlet The software focuses on key content points (ex: terms and definitions) for students to practice. The advantage of this software is that students can use different drill type activities to simple flash cards for practicing.

Tutorials Student Handout Practices – See Example Linked This site has various handout activities online that assist student in learning documents. This example provided is focused on the Dec relation of Independence. The potential use is a review of key text (parts) of documents or information for reviews.

Simulation Lewis and Clark – PBS The simulation focuses on students selecting items to start a mission to the Pacific Ocean. Students select answers to various questions to determine if they complete the journey. This can be used inside the classroom as a learning tool for students to make choices. Students can also determine if they are able to complete the journey.

Instructional Games New World Explorers This game asks (reviews) questions on five main early explorers. Students can use this as a review or practice game on the early explorers. The activity may also be used as a way to teach students on the main points of the explorers.

Problem Solving Jamestown Online Activity Students problem solve their way through living in the New World. They select items to complete or do in order for their survival. Even though this is related to a simulation, students can note their reasons for selecting an advancement (ex: crop, or building) over another selection or item in this case.
