ANNOUNCEMENTS HW: Apostrophe Hand Poem Final due tomorrow!!
SEMINAR Let’s discuss the short story, “The Rocking Horse Winner” What did you notice? How could this connect or parallel to The Kite Runner?
POEM STUDY Let’s read the poem, “Daddy” by Sylvia Plath Annotate it to make meaning and be ready to discuss what you notice. I want to do one more read—this time I want you to listen to Plath herself read the poem; it will give you an even stronger sense of the tone and diction!
WN PROMPTS Pick one of these literary pieces—”The Rocking Horse Winner” or “Daddy” and tell me why it would be a good literary piece to compare to The Kite Runner. Example: “The Incident” is a poem about the way a child’s world can change because of the prejudice around them; we also see this in The Kite Runner with the way Hassan is treated. When you write your argument, use evidence from the short story or poem and use proper citation with the author’s last name and page/line number. Share with TWO other classmates… Discuss…
CLOSING HW: Apostrophe Hand Poem Final Draft due tomorrow! Don’t forget the annotations and final reflection as well!
