CHIHULY HE WAS NOT REALLY INTERESTED IN FURTHERING HIS STUDIES AFTER HS, BUT HIS MOM ENCOURAGED HIM TO GO TO COLLEGE HE BEGAN TO STUDY INTERIOR DESIGN AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON (1960)

CHIHULY THERE HE LEARNED TO MELT AND FUSE GLASS THERE HE LEARNED TO MELT AND FUSE GLASS HE BECAME INTERESTED, AND DECIDED TO STUDY ABROAD/ TRAVEL TO ITALY AND THE MIDDLE EAST TO LEARN MORE HE BECAME INTERESTED, AND DECIDED TO STUDY ABROAD/ TRAVEL TO ITALY AND THE MIDDLE EAST TO LEARN MORE HE THEN RETURNED TO HIS STUDIES… HE THEN RETURNED TO HIS STUDIES… ATTENDING THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-MADISON, WHO HAD THE FIRST GLASS PROGRAM IN THE U.S. (1965) HE EVEN EARNED HIS MASTERS IN SCULPTURE IN 1967.

CHIHULY BECAUSE OF HIS SHOULDER INJURY HE HIRED ASSISTANTS AND DECIDED HE “LIKED THE VIEW” HE DESCRIBES HIMSELF NOW AS “MORE CHOREOGRAPHER, THAN DANCER”
