COASTAL EMPIRE COUNCIL, BSA MERITBADGE UNIVERSITY – Nov 5 and Dec 3, 2011 at Armstrong Atlantic State University, university hall University Facts: Tuition: $12 for two sessions Courses: 20 Meritbadge Courses Credits: Scouts can earn 2 Meritbadges (contingent upon completing all requirements ) Location: AASU, University Hall Lunch: Provided only on Session 1 Materials needed: Prerequisites completed (if applicable) BLUE CARDS: Blue Cards will be filled out and given to the Scouts by the faculty. COURSE SESSIONS: Session 1: Nov 5 Gathering of Scouts: 8am – 9am Course 1 (I Meritbadge) – 9am – 12noon Course 2 (1 Meritbadge) – 1pm – 4pm Session 2: Dec 3 (Follow Up) Gathering of Scouts: 8am – 9am Course 1 follow-up - 9am – 10:30am Course 2 follow-up – 10:40am – 12:10pm

MERITBADGE SUBJECTS THAT WILL BE OFFERRED The courses offered are subject to change If a respective Scout’s courses do change The Scout will be placed in their alternate courses* EAGLE REQUIRED MERITBADGES Citizenship in the Community Citizenship in the Nation Citizenship in the world Communications Environmental Science First Aid Personal Management (Sent earlier due to the 3 –month timetable) Scouts can sign up for Personal Management, but they will not receive it at the MBU, and will have to work externally with Meritbadge Counselor. OPTIONAL MERIT BADGES Computers Disability Awareness Crime Prevention and Traffic Safety (will be combined and fills 1 MB slot) Dentistry Dog Care Fingerprinting Geology Model Design and Building Photography Public Health Reading and Scholarship

Enrollment and Attendance  Please fill out the enclosed form and send it to the following: Coastal Empire Council, BSA – Abercorn Street, Savannah, GA or online at bsasavannah.org. ***Deadline is Monday October 10 th,  Please ensure to include two alternate courses.  All Scouts are to exemplify the Scout Oath and Law while on AASU’s campus.  General Format: MB Counselors who have included prerequisites, will send them prior to the first day of the MBU. Scouts are to have all prerequisites completed. Upon completion of the first day, MB counselors will direct the Scouts on how to proceed, if the Meritbadge won’t be completed after the follow up Session on Dec 3.  Additional Costs: Additional costs will be assessed for such Meritbadges as leatherworking ($10). Scouts and their families will be notified once registered.  The Goal for the MBU is not to give Meritbadges away. Scholars will have to work hard to attained them. If Meritbadges are not completed after the follow up session, Scholars (Scouts) will have to work one on one with the MB Counselor after the MBU.
