South Coast Water District Tunnel History Built in 1954 Pipeline replaced in 1974 Tunnel runs from Three Arch Bay to Aliso Beach Approximately 2 miles in length Tunnel dimensions generally 6 ft. high x 6 ft. wide Only sewer collection system in SoCal that has sewer line inside of a tunnel within & below bluff Unique benefit of having a “Gravity Sewer Line”  Eliminates need for 6-8 lift stations & individual sump pumps
