Classroom Management Consistency of Procedures Allocate time to review and rehearse in both languages Practice, across the two classrooms, Makes Perfect Common Behavior Management Plan Recognize and Reward desired behaviors across the two classrooms in similar ways. Have common consequences across the two classrooms.

Paradigm Shift Students are not “mine” or “yours” Managing 50 + students Be flexible with time schedule dealing with lots of schedule conflicts

Classroom Management Teachers should develop similar classroom rules and procedures so rules are consistent for the students in both classes. It is also suggested that teachers are similar across both classes with areas such as: -celebrating birthdays, holidays, gift giving, rewards, etc.

Classroom Management Classroom Rules and Consequences -All rules and consequences need to mirror each other. -What are you doing now? -How does this fit into dual immersion? -Collaborate and make it doable in both languages

Classroom Management Time Management Transition Varieties - Time is always equal 50% -Quarterly -Weekly -Daily -Once a year -Twice a day

Classroom Management Share the time frame and switch (variety) Having the similar expectations and procedures for uniformity Managing homework Managing assignments

Classroom Management Disclosure Statement Same document and on same page You both SHARE all 50+ students. It’s like one classroom Collaboration is essential. You have to be a uniformed pair. It’s like a marriage and parenthood.

Communication Teachers should keep each other informed weekly on topics being taught each week. This can be shared on with each other weekly or with a notebook that they pass from one to another with an update written in it. Example: teachers calling each other nightly to blend and debrief...

Communication Teachers should communicate together to parents on a regular basis.

Communication Ideas: Remind 101 Teacher website Class Newsletter volunteerspot.com Consequences and behavior with others Both teachers are always involved in communication with parents and administrators Conduct SEP conferences with student/parents as a team
