Foyle Hospice By Michael Gomersall

 I choose the Foyle Hospice because they are an amazing cause that help sick and dying patients and their families.  They help cancer patients from all over Northern Ireland. They treat them and tell them about their sickness’ and they let their families go and see them as well.  They have a charity shop and charity boxes all around the town and whatever money they raise they give to their hospices.  Terminally ill people go to the Hospice, as people’s last few days are very important, and people who are on their last breaths want to be cared for and loved, and the staff are very caring and thoughtful. Why I chose the Foyle Hospice

 I have chosen the Hospice as my dad volunteered for them last year for the year and he will be able to tell me a lot about it and what its like volunteering for them. The shop and hospice is in town and can be easily contacted and visited  I also know a lot about the Foyle Hospice about hearing people in my town talk about it as it is a popular charity. Why I chose the Foyle Hospice

 Interview the patients /permission and sensitivities permitting.  Visit the shop & hospice.  Attend events  Interview the workers/volunteers -I have a contact list.  Show what the hospice does and how it helps people.  Interview the patients family to show the support that the hospice is giving patients and their families. Plans for my documentary

Crew

 I have ed the Foyle hospice asking for permission to film the documentary, but they have not yet got back to me. Here is the following . Hello, My name is Michael Gomersall. I am studying at the North West regional College doing an Advanced Media Production course. For one of my assignments i have to make a short documentary about a charity, and I would like to do Foyle Hospice. With your permission I hope to come in and interview a few staff members, and possibly patients/family members if they are willing. I understand the sensitivities in this topic and am treading very carefully. I know that you have done a lot of publicity and fund raising and would hope to speak with the Coordinator who may be able to suggest a helpful approach. Are there any specific topics you would like me to cover that have not featured in your work that you would like to focus on or anything you would like me to do as my ‘Social Action’ narrative on the hospice? Perhaps your christmas Tree Campaign would be an appropriate focus? My Father volunteered for a year at the hospice working in the Charity shop at spring town and he would support me in making this short 3minute film. Let me know what you think and who I would best be interviewing and speaking to as a way to proceed with your consent. Sincerely, Michael Gomersall, Ryan Murphy, Jamie Keys Permission to film

 There are some issues that may occur to us when we are making the documentary. We may not have access to the patients or they may not be willing to let us interview them. Also this topic is a sensitive issue and we would take great caution to be mindful on all subjects. Contingency Plans
