Under the guidance of Prof. S. Roy Chowdhury Prepared by. Anjan Mukherjee B.C.E-III, Sec-B2 Roll

Surveying is a technology that uses instruments to measure the position relationships between points on land and express shapes, areas and other aspects by figures or drawing. Leveling is the art of determining and representing the relative position of different object in vertical plane But in broads sense surveying include leveling

The objective of surveying is to prepare a plan or map. The result of surveying when plotted on paper and drawn constitutes a plan. The drawing will be called plan if the scale is small. And will be called map if the scale is large.

A total station is an electronic/optical instrument used in modern surveying. The total station is an electronic theodolite (transit) integrated with an electronic distance meter (EDM) to read slope distances from the instrument to a particular point

Can measure horizontal and vertical angle up to 1” Temperature & Pressure Sensors Water & Dust Proof Electronic target is used so surveying in dim light Can send all data to computer take data from computer to draw map

 Setting up the tripod  Centering  Leveling

As the total station is extremely sensitive, multiple reflections on the prism surface can sometimes cause a significant loss in accuracy Do not use a prism with scratches, a dirty surface, or a chipped center

Conventional Autolock

Total station eliminates inaccuracies caused by eccentricity and graduation as it uses electronic devices. The angle measurement system compensates for the following automatic corrections:-  Horizontal and vertical collimation error  Trunnion axis tilt

High Precision DR

Internal power supply External power supply

A friendly user interface and powerful analysis tools make total station most suitable instrument in the World. All the data transferred to the computer. Using these data all calculation done Plotting also done

Companies are Sokkia( Leica ( Nikon( Trimble (  To buy total station also may contact Supertech Sales And Services, Noida V. P. Civil Surveying & Lab Equipment Company, Delhi South Precision Instrument Pvt. Ltd. Delhi.

Now a days in surveying operation everywhere total Station is used for its thousands of facilities. This instrument can eliminate all other previous surveying instruments. But it have some disadvantage.  High cost  Repairing problem  Skilled labour.
