What is the Role of the Disability Resource Coordinator (DRC) on an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP)? on an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP)? The DRC is the Boss The DRC is a Facilitator and Resource Coordinator The DRC is the Case Manager

So you see the role of the DRC like Marlon Brando playing the Godfather? Sorry, the DRC is not the boss of the ILP. In fact, since the ILP is self directed, the closest thing to a boss is the customer themselves. An ILP may have a number of lead providers over its existence and based on the resources needed by the customer to reach the next goal in the plan (for example a Title 1 case manager during a WIOA funded training), but nobody quite like that guy over there! Not Quite…try again!

Close… It sounds like you see the role of the DRC as some sort of Case Manager with super powers able to apply overwhelming resources to the situation and leap over conflicting timelines with a single bound, yes? Not exactly… The ILP is a long-term process that will most likely outlast the ability of any one system to manage from beginning to end. In fact, many case managers over different programs may need to take the lead over the course of the plan, not one super-powered one! Try Again!

CORRECT!!! You are Correct! The most appropriate role for a DRC in the implementation of an ILP is the same role the DRC plays every day as a facilitator and resource coordinator. The DRC position can be the critical first step in the implementation of an ILP by assisting and supporting a customer to connect with the resources needed to begin the process, then work with the providers to embrace the multiple goal structure and extended timeline associated with the strategy.
