Presentation & Format The report was easy to read and understand; the reader could find everything easily.

Presentation & Format It was professional in its presentation – grammatical rules were followed – introduction, body and summary was included – citations and references were included – APA format was followed closely

Interview Protocol Questions addressed multiple proficiencies, focused on a big idea in the discipline, were asked in a generative, open-ended manner and were posed in way that prompted the participant to "think" out loud.

Interview Protocol The protocol included broad, open- ended, application, and hypothetical situation question. Furthermore, several follow-up were created to elicit more information.

Developing Interview Questions 1) 1) Develop a broad question 2) 2) Make an open-ended or open- response questions 3) 3) Create follow-up questions 4) 4) Require application of knowledge 5) 5) Use wrong answers scenarios 6) 6) Employ hypothetical situations

Developing Interview Questions

Interview Process The transcript was complete. Questions were asked in a generative, open-ended manner and were posed in way that prompted the participant to "think" out loud following the interview protocol. Care was taken in conducting the interview in the most appropriate manner.

Use of Literature The author used extensive literature (6 or more articles) and ideas described in the course to explain the data AND cited and referenced those works appropriately AND the explanations were compelling.

Practical Applications for Teaching Analysis was particularly insightful in terms of the links the author made to teaching by demonstrates a reflective nature between the literature and the actual interview as it relates to classroom practices. Specific examples of how analysis will inform teaching are included and thoroughly discussed.

Supporting Evidence Supporting evidence was used throughout the paper. Claims were clearly stated and supported by evidence (actual quotes from literature, transcripts, etc. were used). How evidence and claim are connected was thoroughly explained.

Supporting Evidence In particular, evidentiary support was provided for the following: 1) interview questions address multiple proficiencies; 2) research literature informs interview question design; 3) transcript and research literature inform interview analysis; 4) interview analysis informs teaching.

KNOW/ UNDERSTAND/GRASP The NRC understands there to be 4 strands of scientific proficiency: know, use, and interpret scientific explanations of the natural world; generate and evaluate scientific evidence and explanations; understand the nature and development of scientific knowledge; and participate productively in scientific practices and discourse. The NRC understands there to be 5 strands of mathematical proficiency conceptual understanding procedural fluency strategic competence adaptive reasoning productive disposition

Timeliness The assignment was turned in on time.

Check List 1. Interview two individuals: novice & expert 2. Complete Interview Protocol 3. Transcript of the interviews 4. Written paper
