An introduction to GCSE Art & Design

What is GCSE Art & Design all about? It’s about having an adventurous and enquiring approach to art and design and developing the skills to express it. You will develop an understanding of past and contemporary art and design and be able to produce a personal response to a range of ideas.

GCSE Art & Design EXAM =40% Portfolio = 60%

25% is based on your drawings and recordings, this includes photography

25% - Researching artists and cultures to inform your wart work

25% is about your experimentation with materials and ideas… 25% is about your experimentation with materials and ideas….and taking risks

Once you have done enough recording, research and experimentation of all of the above you can begin to plan a final design for a final piece of art work

25% of your marks are linked to you final piece and this can be anything from a painting, drawing, print, clay sculpture, installation, photography animation etc
