THE CHAIN OF AID BEGINS WITH YOU Hunger Day 15th – 17th September What is Hunger Day? Hunger Day is the biggest annual fund-raising campaign arranged by the Finnish Red Cross. Funds are collected for the Disaster Relief Fund, which allows the Red Cross to operate in both Finland and abroad. The funds in the Disaster Relief Fund can be used to provide help quickly, because the donations are not bound to a specific destination.

THE CHAIN OF AID BEGINS WITH YOU Hunger Day 15th – 17th September The Red Cross helps people who have lost their home in a fire, for example. Volunteers offer emotional support and administer first aid. When the worst happens... Jarkko Mikkonen & Tatu Blomqvist

THE CHAIN OF AID BEGINS WITH YOU Hunger Day 15th – 17th September Jarkko Mikkonen & Tatu Blomqvist He brings help where it’s needed. ”After a fire, it might take several days to acquire new identity cards, money and to arrange things with the insurance company. That is when a person needs emergency aid, such as food, shelter and the possibility to go out to take care of things. After all, you cannot send a person out into the cold alone.” Kari Varjonen Volunteer The Finnish Red Cross

THE CHAIN OF AID BEGINS WITH YOU Hunger Day 15th – 17th September Aid during disasters and crises The Red Cross helps, saves and cares for the victims of disasters. Volunteers distribute food, water and other aid supplies in Somaliland and Ethiopia, countries suffering from a drought. Aapo Huhta

THE CHAIN OF AID BEGINS WITH YOU Hunger Day 15th – 17th September Aapo Huhta & Tatu Blomqvist He brings help where it’s needed. ”We can ease peoples’ suffering with our own actions.
