2 Eatonville School District #404 Total Fund Balance: All the money the district has in the bank to operate our schools Assigned Fund Balance: Levy Obligations Staffing, ADA, Software, Equipment, Furniture, Maintenance, Curriculum Adoptions, Extra Curricular, Technology Hardware/Repair, Sick Leave Buy Back/Cash out Restricted Fund Balance: Title I, PSE Professional Development, IDEA Balances, Class of 1953, Saul Haas, Nurse’s Fund, Miscellaneous grants/donations

3 Eatonville School District #404 Ending Fund Balance for Total Ending Balance $ 3,513,084 Minus Levy Obligation ($ 2,571,976) Minus Restricted Funds ($ 33,914) Unreserved Fund Balance $ 907,194 Unreserved Fund Balance: 5.22% of Actual Revenues* * Board policy requires an unreserved fund balance of 5%

Eatonville School District #404 Challenges in the budget process: – Unfunded positions – Medical/dental premiums for unfunded positions – Underfunded transportation expenses – MSOCs (maintenance, supplies & operating costs) Supplies, travel, capital outlay, books, utilities – Shrinking student enrollment 6

Causes of Gap Reduced revenue from State ESD filled 1.9% & 3.0% gap for staff Decreases in money from Federal Government Decreasing student enrollment Commitment to maintaining programs for our students Has had impact on our general fund balances

Eatonville School District #404 Possible Help for 13/14 budget cycle: Levy increased from $4.09 to $4.41 million Better levy collection rate (95% from 93%) McCleary Decision & the Education Funding Joint Task Force (more funding for education, when?) Increase in student FTE??? 12
