I have a great deal of patience and have come up with some techniques that makes the learning process more engaging for those that may not have the concentration or cognitive skills of most students. I feel that being creative in the classroom can be more effective for students. In fact, it is vital in the learning process and helps give these students the ability to be competitive in the educational system. My educational background and experience would make me a perfect candidate for your school. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social and Criminal Justice and Minor in Child Development with a Master’s in Education. I have worked for many years in a LIFESKILLS class. I continue to grow as a teacher by taking as many workshops as I have time to attend and am constantly seeking new ways to teach through online communities. It is my opinion that even teachers can never stop learning and seeking new ways to get students, particularly special needs students, interested in learning.
Philosophy of Education My personal education philosophy is to see that the children are achieving their goals and being empowered into a learning environment. What should students expect of you as a teacher? The student should expect that I would be knowledgeable, confident and enthusiasm in my instruction with the ability to disseminate information in a manner which the students can clearly and concisely understand instructions. What should parents expect of you as a teacher? The parents should expect an environment that is safe, positive and knowledgeable for their children to learn without any obstacles. There should be open positive dialogue between the parents and teacher. What do you expect of yourself as a teacher? As a teacher I expect to have the support of the parents and students while attempting to administer my level of instructions. What do you believe is the most important responsibility of being a teacher? I believe the most important responsibility of a teacher is to administer the highest level of instructions to students resulting in continuous prosperous learning to become productive members of society. What values in life are most important to you as a person? As a teacher? As a parent? And as a learner? The values that are most important to me in life are, integrity, dependable, reliable, committed, and be consistence, and positive and optimistic these are very valuable to me. As a teacher I am going to motivate, inspiring, be open-minded, committed to the task that I am assign to. As a
Classroom Management Plans Classroom Management Goal Plan This classroom management is set up for a Life Skills Elementary School for Special Needs students. The age groups are 6 to 11 years of age. The classroom should exhibit a friendly and safe environment. With different centers set up for the children to be able to interact with the other students, as well as parents being able to observe their child in the classroom. It also helps the teacher to observe what kinds of behaviors and their social skills, and motor skills that needs to be reinforced, or taught. Communication is typically one-way—from teacher to student. Students depend on the teacher for discipline direction. The teacher's goal is student compliance. Newman, R. (2013).
Classroom Management Rules and Expectations The rules and expectations will be as the teacher I will promote a positive atmosphere and display patience with each student and being flexible. Children with different disabilities need to have structure in the classroom. The rules are in the classroom: Student will come in and sit quietly Hands and feet are to self Will not talk to others while they are talking Listen to Direction My expectations are no matter what color, disability, background status, economic status, every student can and will be successful. Conveying positive and high expectations in a classroom and school environment can affect students' beliefs in themselves.(Newman, 2013).
School Model I had the privilege of observing two campuses, one was the Adapted Behavior Center and an elementary First Grade class. The adaptive behavior center is a special campus set up for students that have variety of psychological indicators that as a results they must leave their regular campus to attend Adaptive Behavior enhance training. The next campus was a Montessori First Grade class with twenty little ones in a classroom with one assistant. How are you addressing these issues? School-A Addressing issue by sending parents a school newsletter with information home with students as well as ing parents or guardians. School B- Lesson plans in force, modeling expectation for students What role does technology play in classrooms to support teaching and learning? School A- School A is a title 1 school so limited on laptops, and computer plus the classroom setting are small groups. Teachers have an overhead projector.
Effective Lesson Plan A good lesson plan begins with writing good learning objectives The effective lesson should be specific enough to be measureable. Gather knowledge from as many different sources as you can, not just by combing your required coursework. (Newman,2013). Effective teacher start with the end in mind
Common Core State Standards Initiative play a role in designing effective instruction Promote the development of common instructional materials for the standards; Set expectations for students that will be unambiguous and transparent to everyone; Promote the development of common instructional materials for the standards; Develop accountability systems that measure student success based on the same standards across states; and; Analyze policies that may need to be adjusted to ensure the success of students and teachers meeting the standards.Newman,2013
Assessment Matters Assessment is defined as the process used to determine, in measurable terms, the knowledge, skills attitudes, and the belief of the learner. ( Newman, 2013). Analyze the roles of assessment and evaluation in school improvement and in measuring educational quality. Every school and teachers have their own personal set ways in which they achieve their role of assessment and evaluation to improve the measuring quality of education. I would start off by making sure that the students have a clear purpose for the assessment and sound design and effective communication, and more student involvement. Newman, 2013 stated that each is important and all must be integrated into any assessments for learning process. UCD Learning Teaching and Learning says there are 6 important roles on assessment and they are: Capturing student time and attention, generating appropriate student learning activity, providing timely feedback which students pay attention to, helping students to internalize the disciple’s standards and notions of equality, generating marks or grades which distinguish between students or enable pass/fail decisions to be made, providing evidence for other outside the course to enable them to judge the appropriateness of standards on the course. Evaluation provides very resourceful information that can improve on the quality of education. Overall the role of assessment details functions is to select, monitor and hold accountable and to assure that the student will be able to move to the level in education. Examine and explain your perspectives on the roles and trends related to assessment in education. In the video of Rick Womeli-Formative and Summative Assessment he stated that educators should spend much time developing formative assessments as they do summative assessments. As educators we should look for more innovative ways to assess our student.
