Presentation transcript:

 Ventral cavity-this is made up of the anterior part of the body and is comprised of the thoracic and abdominopelvic areas.  Dorsal cavity-this spans from cranial cavity down to spinal cavity all the way to pelvic cavity

 Thoracic - this means chest, thoracic can include lungs and heart, ribs skin and muscles of the chest  Pleura l- this is the area that surrounds the lungs

 Pelvic cavity-this is the area surrounded by the pelvic bones. It will include reproductive organs, urinary bladder and rectum  Abdominal cavity- this is your tummy! It is located between the thoracic and pelvic cavities. It holds your stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, intestines, spleen

Tell your table buddy the difference between the pelvic cavity and abdominal cavity

 Mediastinum- this is middle of the chest. It contains the heart, esophagus, trachea, lymph nodes and thymus (if they are a child it is larger organ that helps with the immune system, it begins to disintegrate after puberty and the older the adult becomes, the smaller the gland

 Pericardial-this is a space directly around the heart, it has 2 layers and fluid (juicy) between layers.

 Digestion takes place in the__________ cavity  A person having a heart attack may experience pain in the _________________ cavity  A person with a terrible case of “heart burn” will experience pain in the __________________ cavity

 The area of the body that includes the front, but not the head or legs in called?  The area that touches the seat on the Mr. Freeze ride is called?  If a person had pain directly around the heart it would be considered?____________________  If you have asthma, you might feel some pain with coughing in the ____________________ cavity  If you drank too much water, and you’ve been in class for 2 H, you may feel the __________________________ cavity fill up with fluid  That’s all folks! _
