How will Long Island P-TECH work? It is a 6 year, high-school- to-college program, which is absolutely free. It is 100% funded by the New York State P-TECH Grant. Uniondale, Freeport, and Wyandanch Public School Districts act in partnership with businesses, SUNY Farmingdale and Nassau and Western Suffolk BOCES.

The Long Island P-TECH Process Year th Grade Your child will engage in a rigorous course sequence in science, math, career development and essential 21 st century skills, such as problem solving and critical thinking. Year 4 - End of 12 th Grade Your child will have completed all the coursework necessary to earn a New York State Regents Diploma and credits towards an Associate Degree. Year 6 – Final Year Your child will have all the requirements to earn the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. At the end of the program your child will be guaranteed an interview for possible full-time employment with one of the business partners.

What are the entrance requirements for P-TECH? Interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Currently enrolled in Science 8 and Math 8 with an 80% or higher average Strong character and adheres to the Uniondale Code of Conduct

What are the family/scholar commitments to the P-TECH program? Attend academic assistance/extra help as needed Attend all Summer, Saturday, and Vacation activities Participate in business internships with mentors and partners Graduate with your N.Y.S. High school diploma and the AAS from Farmingdale

Long Island P-TECH Application requirements Complete all information for the General and Scholar Applications Ask a Uniondale teacher for a letter of recommendation and include with application (attachment) Type responses to all questions found on the scholar application (attachment) Submit a completed application with all attachments by June 6th

Scholar Application Questions  What are your long-term educational and career goals?  Why are you interested in the P-TECH program?  Why do you believe you would be a good candidate for the program?  What skills and characteristics do you possess that will assist you in being successful in the P-TECH program? Give an example of how the skills/characteristics contributed to your successful completion of a task or project.
