Idea #1: Remote Controlled Airplane -Build an R.C. airplane -Include servos and speed controller with motor -Researched to find 2 ways to complete the airplane -Both were too expensive and difficult to build Idea #2: Transformation of electricity -Build a gizmo transforming electricity -Transforms solar energy to mechanical energy to light energy -Generated a list of materials to make it -Idea seamed to simple and easy -Solar panels not strong enough

Build a foxhole radio Idea was both innovative and fascinating Used and created during WWII Very portable Easily built and doesn’t need any power source Practically non- detectable Researched the project and made a list of materials  A general list of materials would include the following: 1. A plank of wood 2. An audio input wire 3. A razor blade or a diode 4. Magnetic coil wire 5. Metal paper clips 6. A safety pin 7. A pencil 8. Scissors 9. A hammer 10. Thumb tacks 11. An insulated wire 12. A toilette paper roll You could also replace the improvised detector(cat and whisker and a blued razor blade) with an actual diode if you wish to have a potentially stronger signal.

Technical Analysis Interesting technical facts and features:  It was built and used in world war 2 by the GI’s so they could communicate and listen to what is happening back home and also in the battlefield  It was named foxhole after the “foxholes” dug by soldiers in WWII – where the radio was used  It doesn’t use batteries  It harnesses radio waves for its power to produce sound  You could tune it to whatever am radio stations are broadcasting in your area  Its a very simple and easy project to build yet very difficult to get the detector to function properly  It is practically non detectable by radar and other high-tech detectors

PROCEDURES Procedure of how to build a foxhole radio: 1. Get a wooden board that the radio will be built. 2. Punch two holes on each end of the toilet paper roll and then poke the ends of the coil wire through the two holes. 3. Wrap the magnetic wire around the toilet paper roll 120 times without over lapping, to make the coil as shown in the diagram. 4. Secure the paper toilet roll onto the wooden plank. 5. Hammer a thumb tack down with a paper clip near the paper toilet roll coiled with a magnetic wire. 6. Take one of the ends of the magnetic wire and tie it around the hammered paper clip. 7. To create the cat whisker you cut the tip off a sharpened pencil and stab a safety pin through the lead part you cut off as shown in the diagram. 8. Attach all wires following the schematic.

Conclusion Built it Didn’t work Assume one of these problems: - The wiring wasn’t done correctly - The radio signal was too weak - The razor blade wasn’t blued correctly Think it was blued blade so bought a diode Didn’t work either Only succeeded into hearing static and buzzes
