Reflective Essay While completing my road trip project to Miami, Florida, I learned that planning a vacation trip isn’t as easy as it seems. You have to research where you’re eating, staying, what you’re going to do each day, where you’ll stop for gas, and so much more! I was very surprised that just a fun stay in Miami could take so much effort and planning. My favorite part about this project was that we got to pretend that we were actually taking a trip and that everything was so realistic. I discovered so many new websites I never would’ve found before completing this assignment. The thing I liked least about this project was going back, thinking I had everything done, then realizing that I still had to calculate state tax. I don’t think I learned a lot about managing your time other than the fact that you should spend your time (and your money!) wisely. After finishing my project, I realized that I didn’t know whether or not I’d really want to visit Miami. I’ve already been to Florida twice, and although it’s a beautiful state, I bet there are more exciting places to visit. The only thing I would change about my project if did it again would be to change my destination. I’m pretty sure going somewhere I’ve never been before (such as New York) would be more interesting. The real reason I chose to spend my vacation in Miami was because I already knew it was at least five hundred miles away from Champaign. Plus, during both of the times I’ve been to Florida, I’ve never been to Miami. Last but not least, I was extremely shocked when I added my total costs for my entire trip. For just one person for one week, $3, seems just a little too expensive.
