Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters TM Volunteer With Us!

Cooking Matters Colorado a nutrition education program that fights hunger by teaching families how to make healthy and budget-wise food choices empowers families at risk of hunger with the skills, knowledge and confidence to make healthy and affordable meals

The Need 500,000 more children live in poverty this year than last. More than 30 million Americans participate in federal nutritional assistance programs – the highest level in 40 years. 4

Our Impact 87% of Adults report improving their cooking skills 96% of kids who take Cooking Matters’ Side By Side course enjoyed cooking alongside their parents during class 69% of adults said they were eating more fruit and vegetables 5

Why Should You Get Involved? “It’s a wonderful opportunity for people to give back to the community. I don’t work in a restaurant; I work in the school districts it allows me to do some cooking with people, share my passion of cooking and food, and how to feed your family.” Andrew, Volunteer 6

A Chef’s Responsibilities Teach basic cooking techniques, food safety, meal planning, healthy eating, how to select, store and wash fruits and vegetables, and how to navigate the grocery store 7
