Presentation transcript:

 Exam must be made up by Next Wednesday  Exam grades will be posted online but not returned until exams are made up

 C omprised of Vessels and Tissues/Organs  Drain excess fluids from the body  Does not have a pump, movement similar to veins  Lymph nodes are the foundation for the immune system

 If excess fluid cannot be returned to the blood stream then interstitial fluid builds up, leading to swelling of the tissues with fluid, this is called edema.

IMMUNOLOGY * STUDY OF THE BODY’S DEFENSES AND ITS DISEASES

1. SKIN & MUCUS MEMBRANES 2. LEUKOCYTES 3. ANTIBODY PRODUCTION BY LYMPHOCYTES

TYPES OF IMMUNITY 1. CONGENITAL – PRESENT AT BIRTH 2. ACQUIRED – RECEIVED DURING LIFETIME A. ACTIVE: CONTRACTING DISEASE OR INJECTION OF VACCINE (Tdap, MMR) B. PASSIVE: ANTIBODY TRANSFER FROM MOM  BABY; OR Antibody SERUM
