CELLS THE GUIDE TO THE ORGANELLES

Table Of Contents Slide number What is a cell? 1 Nucleus 2 Chromatin 3 Cytoplasm 4 Mitochondria 5 Ribosomes 6 Lysosomes 7 Cell Membrane 8 Golgi Apparatus 9 Endoplasmic Reticulum 10

WHAT IS A CELL A cell is the smallest living form of matter. It controls any animals bodily functions

NUCLEUS The nucleus is the control center of the cell also contains most of the cells genetic matirial like the brain but not

CHROMATIN Consists of protein, DNA, and RNA its function is to package DNA into a smaller size

CYTOPLASM Used to contain the organelles within the cell safely

MITOCHONDRIA Mitochondria are pretty much the power houses of the cell they turn your food into energy

RIBOSOMES Ribosomes help with protein synthesis and it also joins amino acids to form a polypeptide chain

LYSOSOMES Lysosome are spherical vesicles containing hydrolytic enzymes capable of breaking down things in the cell like an acid

CELL MEMBRANE The cell membrane protects the inside of the cell from the outside enviornement it controls the flow of things going inside the cell and going out which means that it is semi-permiable

GOLGI APPARATUS The golgi apparatus packages proteins into vesicles to be transported to other places in the cell

ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM There are two kinds of endoplasmic reticulum the rough er and the smooth er the rough er is studded with ribosomes and is the place where protein synthisis occurs. Smooth ers functions are lipid metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism, and detoxification
