Roles for your group: Each group must have a: Leader / Spokesperson – Responsible for major decisions and feedback to the class. Resources Manager– Responsible for gathering information, paper, pens, etc… Recorder – Responsible for writing down thoughts and ideas of the group. Time-keeper / Diplomat – responsible for making sure that the task is completed on time and to make sure that all group members contribute fairly and equally.

Fraction puzzle. Task 1. (15 mins) In your group work out the answers to the fraction problems and match them up. Once you are sure you can stick the answers down on the sheet provided.

MISCONCEPTIONS/ ERRORS Task 2. (25 mins) In your group discuss the problems and correct any errors. Is there a misconception? Your group must attempt all the questions. The resources manager can view other groups work and feedback. The spokesperson will feedback to the class.

Number, Algebra or Shape and space? Task 3. (20 mins) In your group, look at the questions and decide which one you can explain to the rest of the class. Once you are sure you need to show all your workings and be ready to teach this to the class. You may teach this as a group if you wish.

Work out the simple interest on £530 at 4.5% per annum after 3 years. £ ………………………… (Total 3 marks) A can of drink costs 32p. The cost of the can of drink is increased to 38p. Jenny calculates that this is a percentage increase of 19%. Is Jenny’s percentage correct? You must show how you reached your decision. (Total 3 marks) Jacob answered 80% of the questions in a test correctly. He answered 32 of the questions correctly. Work out the total number of questions in the test. ………………….. (Total 3 marks)

Task 4. (25 mins) In your group you have 10 minutes to answer the questions on your sheet. After 10 minutes pass the sheet to the next group in a clockwise direction (everyone gets another groups work). Look at the other groups work, correct any errors and attempt any questions that they have left. After 5 minutes pass these on again and repeat until each group has their work back. Spokesperson to feedback to the class any positive outcomes from doing this. Carousel.
