What are QR Codes? By now we have all seen these funny little 2 dimensional art deco looking squares that are beginning to show up everywhere. QR codes can be used to redirect to a website, insert contact information into the user’s smart phone, send a text message or provide text based information on the readers smart phone.
How are QR Codes read? “There’s an app for that.” Its as simple as taking a picture of the QR code with your smart phone and the app reads the code, translates it and does whatever the code is programmed to do. Many smart phones already have a code reader app installed. There are several free and inexpensive apps available online.

How can we use QR codes in EH? Added to placards QR codes can direct the reader to a website with more information. Example: Food Facility Grade cards could have A QR Code that takes you to the county website where the latest inspection report can be downloaded. Beach closure signs with a QR Code could provide access to the latest info, a list of safe beaches, etc.
