RUSSELL GROUP UNIVERSITIES – WHERE ARE THEY?

RUSSELL GROUP UNIVERSITIES: These are among the top 24 universities in the UK. Applying for these universities can be more competitive and so students need to be well prepared. However, there is pressure on top universities to take more students from non selective schools, so there is no better time to apply.

RUSSELL GROUP UNIVERSITIES: Receive support with UCAS application and personal statements. Receive advice with regards to student finance Research courses and course requirements (as well as ensure A level choices suit University requirements in year 11)

WHAT DO WE OFFER FOR OUR STUDENTS? Tutor times dedicated to students choosing Universities/ courses/ Careers. Personal Statement workshops for students that need guidance with written statements. UCAS application guidance sessions. Trips to university taster days (including Oxford and Cambridge) Student finance advice. Higher education workshop days Information on open days and summer schools

WHAT INCREASES YOUR CHANCE OF GAINING A PLACE AT UNIVERSITY? As well as academia, Universities look for students that are well rounded individuals. They encourage extra curricular activities such as a sport, charity work or taking part in student voice. This shows organisation and leadership skills. Individual responsibilities like prefect work or a part time job are also favoured.

WHAT INCREASES YOUR CHANCE OF GAINING A PLACE AT UNIVERSITY? Go above and beyond your programmed studies. If you can only talk or write about what you have studied in class, have you really shown an interest in your subject.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE: Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further questions. Thank you for listening.
