An Introduction to Writing with a focus on September 11, 2001

Today’s Warm-up: 9/11 FAQ Review- You have five minutes!  On the lined sheet of paper provided, please answer the following questions:  1. What does Afghanistan have to do with 9/11?  2. How is the site being rebuilt?  3. What is the 9/11 memorial?

Periods 1, 2, and 5 only:  When the bell rings, you will go to last year’s English class to pick up your writing portfolio. Please return directly to class.  The warm-up will be displayed when you return and you will have five minutes to complete it.

Homework  Finish tree map  In-class essay is now on Friday!  Cover textbook by Friday- bring to class for points!

Material Check!  Please place the large eraser, colored pencils or markers, manual pencil sharpener, and 2-3 extra pencils in the bag provided. Write your first and last name on the bag with a marker.  Please place the lined paper, pen/pencil, and three-ring binder on your desk.  On the index card provided, please write your name, period, and the number of supplies you have with you in class today. There are a total of 7)  (Example: Name, period 1 6 supplies)

Objective By the end of the period, scholars will be able to identify the impact of 9/11 by completing a thinking map.

In-class Writing Prompt  Describe the impact of the 9/11 attacks on the American public and homeland security. Additionally, identify the impact the 9/11 attacks had on you as an individual (you may address the video clip and photography presented in class).
