E-business Electronic business, commonly referred to as "eBusiness" or "e-business", may be defined as the utilization of information and communication technologies (ICT) in support of all the activities of business. ie a website which is advertising / promoting the business (NO SELLING)

E-commerce E-commerce - Electronic commerce, commonly known as (electronic selling) E-commerce, consists of the buying and selling of products or services over electronic systems such as the Internet and other computer networks.

Word Count There is no word count but some restrictions:- Task 3 Powerpoint – No more than 6 slides Task 4 Website evaluations – should be a table and fit on one A4 page Task 5 Website – No more than 6 pages Task 6 Part 1 – Must fit on one A4 page Task 6 Part 2 – No more than 6 slides 30 Hours

Task 1 Project Plan We expect to see:- Aim Objectives Tasks Timescale Dates

Task 2 Need to carry out research from two different sources of information. Eg Internet Textbooks Journals Magazines Interview

Task 2 Asked to complete an advanced search when using the internet Definition of an advanced search is:- A search using more than one word Or A search with words connected with and/or

Task 3 Powerpoint Presentation – the speaker notes should be below the powerpoint using the speaker notes feature of PP. PP should have no more than 6 slides and the notes should be below it just like the sample. NO MORE THAN THIS

Task 3 Costs associated with setting up an e-commerce site Here we want just a list of these costs not figures This should not be copied and pasted from internet

Task 4 Should fit on one page Must be on a table format Must have a final judgement about the three websites used

Task 5 Should have a plan The best way to show evidence of the website is by screen dumps. Candidates also need to annotate the features that they used so moderators can see what is going on. The website is only 6 pages, but the screen dumps may be more to show all features.

Task 5 Website content:- Do not need to have a shopping cart The catalogue page can just be a picture, description and price of item Order Form – do not need any form of payment

Task 6 Part 1 – Should be completed on one page Part 2 – No more than 6 slides and the speaker notes need to be below slide using the PP speaker notes features Can have all features but not fit for purpose

Bibliography Needs to be detailed List books as normal Websites should be listed and dates written when visited

Sample 1 Comments Task 1 There is a clear plan Aim Objectives (very detailed) Tasks clearly set out Timescale and dates clear – however no monitoring Adds up to less than 30 hours Please note – it should not be the exact same for the whole class. It must be individual

Sample 1 Contd Task 2 Has identified 3 sources – Websites, Questionnaire and Textbooks, Has carried out an advanced search Has explained the web search and shown clearly the evidence which is required for this task to allow moderator to award marks

Task 3 Has 6 slides Clear speaker notes Obvious it hasn’t been taken directly from internet has applied to Phone 4m Pete E-commerce slide good Costs good and applied where possible (realistic) Sample 1 Contd

Task 4 Very detailed table which fits on 1 page Has looked at 3 websites Made a final judgement Looked at 5 criteria Given an overview mark out of 10 Good example to use Sample 1 Contd

Task 5 Need a plan sketch or simple story boards – in this example they have included them as an appendix Plans – don’t have to be computerised but need detail – helps moderation as well Website fit for purpose Good features used – This sample has identified them – Teacher or candidate needs to highlight these for moderation team - Rollover, graphics, sound & video, scrolling marquee, order form with submit button, hit counter, background and graphics, hyperlinks, hyperlinks to another appropriate website and pop up messages Sample 1 Contd

Controlled Assessment 2012/13 No major changes Topic same for pupils 2013/14 only slight changes eg Task 3 – presentation not necessarily a PP Task 3 – wording of e-commerce and e- business

Principal Moderators Report Adding up – not always correct Transfer of marks – not always correct Yes this is picked up by CCEA but only those sent for moderation NO polypockets PLEASE Candidate Record Sheet need to be completed as fully as possible and marks must be broken down

Contd All Candidate Mark Sheet need to be submitted Annotation is vital especially in Task 5 Task 1 – to awards 3/3 need to have aim, objectives, dates and time Task 3 Speaker notes MUST be the candidates own words not copied from internet – this was a weak task

Contd Task 5 – some candidates failed to complete a plan Task 6 evaluation was also a weak task completed
