Umberto Boccioni was born in Reggio Calabria on the 19th October He spent his childhood Forlì, 73km from Bologna. In 1885 his family was in Genoa and 5 years later they were in Padova. He then moved with his father to Catania where he studied at the Technical Institute until he got a diploma. Finished that, he helped with local newspapers and wrote his first novel, Pene dell'anima Pene dell'anima which was not published. Biography
His journey
Moved to Rome for his father's work, Umberto falls in love with one of the two daughters of Zia Colomba called Sandrina. In Rome he attended the office of a poster- maker where he learns the basic skills of art. He with Gino Severini (an Italian paintor),first frequent the office of Giacomo Balla (a famous paintor). In 1903 Umberto and Gino went to the Free School of Nude. In 1910 Umberto's first major artwork was painted: Riot in the gallery. Art skills
Futurism was a group of artists that got together and formed a group. This started in Italy in the 20th century. People like Gino Severini, Giacomo Balla and Carlo Carrà took part in this. Umberto Boccioni died of an accident on the 17th August He fell from his horse in Chievo during a military practise. His horse went mad when it saw a tipper letting Umberto fall off and get trampled.
