Subject Confirmation O We hope and expect to run the following subjects, but this will depend on results: O Classical Civilisation O French O Spanish 5

Subject Confirmation O Some subjects though have only recruited a few pupils. O However, choices usually change after receiving results on GCSE day and we would hope to see all of them run. O The option blocks for Year 12 will be published in July. 6

GCSE Results Day O Exam results will be available at 10 am on Thursday 25 th August. O In the results envelope will be one of three letters: 7

GCSE Results Day 1. A letter asking them to confirm their chosen subject choices on the enclosed form, to sign and hand in to Ms Jane Woodhams. 2. For any students that can’t study all of their subject choices, a letter inviting them for an interview to discuss the way forward. 3. For any student who has not applied to Waingels Sixth Form, one last invitation for a staff interview to discuss potential option choices. O Parents are welcome to attend these meetings. 8

GCSE Results Day O The meetings will go through all the options available to the student. O The meetings will be held in the library from 1 pm and the student should come to the meeting having studied the option blocks. O We want our students to attend our Sixth Form and so we will do our very best to find an appropriate pathway for each of them. 9

GCSE Results Day O For our external students, the meetings to finally confirm their route of study will be held in the library from 3 pm. O For this meeting, our external students will need their 2016 results slip and any outstanding proof of identity. 10

Options Interviews O For students that need an interview, meetings (time slots) will be available to book on the day. O Time slots are to be booked online. O Students can book a time slot once they have their results either before they go home using a school computer, or once they get home. O A letter will be ed out over the coming weeks confirming the booking process. 11

GCSE Results O Unfortunately GCSE results are not allowed to be ed. O If students are unable to collect their results on results day, they can: 1. Get results posted home by handing a stamped self addressed envelope to the Exams Officer in advance. 2. Provide a signed letter authorising someone on their behalf to collect their results for them. The authorised individual must provide photographic proof of identity e.g. passport or photo card driving licence, to show that they are the authorised individual. 12

Induction & Discovery Tasks O From Monday 11 th July Induction & Discovery Tasks for every subject will be available to access from the School website. O Waingels site: 6 th Form; Yr12 Induction. O Students should find their respective subject, download the respective task and begin the process of preparing for September lessons. O Induction & Discovery Tasks are designed to support students in preparing to study a new course. 13

Maths Summer School O The Mathematics department plan to run a summer school for students who opt for A Level Maths and achieve a grade B at GCSE. O The purpose of this additional course is to give students a boost in the core skills assumed at AS, which are generally grade A topics. O During these days, students will have directed study and will then need to pass a test. The department plan to run these days on the 31 st August and 1 st September. O The Mathematics department will provide further details closer to GCSE results day. 14

September 2016 O First day is Tuesday 6 th September. O Meet in the sports hall at 8:40 am for a welcome assembly and to meet new tutors. O Induction begins, with student contracts and timetables amongst other things to be handed out. 15

Sixth Form Dress Code O Please note that Waingels Sixth Form does not have a uniform but a dress code. O Students should dress for a formal place of work, appropriate to an educational environment. O Further clarification can be found in the Sixth Form Dress Code document: O -form/6th-form-life/ -form/6th-form-life/ 16
