Speaker of the Poem The speaker of this poem seems to be happy and having a good time in the beginning but towards the end of the poem the speaker is becoming unhappy. The speaker is realizing that children don’t stay young forever and as they grow up the memories die. Summer is dying along with the memories and all the good things are going away.

Literary Elements End Rhyme- every line has a end rhyme but they don’t have a pattern. Imagery- he is trying to show us that the season is summer and that summer is dying and turning into autumn. Setting- the setting takes place during summer and the season starts to change which is making summer die A B C D

A B C D Literary Elements End Rhyme- every line has a goes with an end rhyme. Repetition- Lewis uses repeating words to show the important parts or ideas. Here he is showing how summer was is sunny and to describe summer before is changes. Also he is showing that when summer dies the memories die with it.

Literary Elements Imagery- Lewis is using many words to express how wonderful summer is. Imagery- Lewis also uses images that can show how summer dies

Imagery “A boat beneath a sunny sky” The connection might be the sunny sky showing that its summer time. “In a wonderland they lie” This connection might show how summer is great and is described as a wonderland.

Imagery “Drifting down the stream, lingering in the golden gleam” This connection might be showing us that the stream in summer had a golden beam, the golden gleam is from the sun. This is showing us that summer is enjoyable. “Autumn frost have slain July” This connection is trying to tell us that summer is fading away. The real meaning for this is that the children are growing old
