TWO CENTERS – ONE SPACE CFCT and PSC Merger

In the Summer of 2010, Psychology and HDFS will move into the new Academic Instruction Building College of Applied Human Sciences Human Development and Family Studies Department (Gifford Building) College of Natural Science Psychology Department (Clark Building) New Academic Instruction Building

At the same time, the two Centers will move into a shared space in the Gifford Building. Gifford Building Psychological Services Center (Clark Building) Center for Family and Couple Therapy (Gifford Building)

Psychological Services Center (PSC) Psychology Department Staffed by graduate students Serves over 1,000 students and community members each year Provides:  Psychological assessment  Vocational assessment  Social skills training  Individual counseling  Group counseling

Center for Family and Couple Therapy Human Development and Family Studies Staffed by graduate students in the Marriage and Family Therapy program Serves 500 students and community members Nationally recognized and accredited Provides:  Individual, couple, and family therapy  Pre-marital and couples enrichment programs  Relationship and social skills workshops for children ages 3-8  Adult relationship workshops

Benefits Supports financial viability  sharing of resources  marketing Provides multidisciplinary training for graduate and undergraduate students  Basic counseling skills course  CACII Certification course Provides advantage in securing contracts and grants for special projects  Campus Corps

What We Need Each room needs to be equipped with a computer and webcam.  Therapy Uses  Record client sessions  Provide clinical assessments  Undergraduate courses  Basic Counseling; CACI Addictions Counseling, Early Childhood Education, Senior Seminar Fourteen rooms: We have 9 computers with webcams, and need 5 more.

What We Need Group therapy/conference room needs to equipped as a Smart classroom:  Group training space for students  Clinical presentations by students  Psychoeducational groups for clients Graduate student space needs to be equipped with computers and printer:  Keeping client records  Scheduling room space Have 3 computers; requesting 2 for Gifford and 2 for AIB.
