Presentation transcript:

What is digital media? digital media is audio, video, and photo content that has been encoded digitally, and compressed. Encoding content involves converting audio and video input into a digital media file such as a Windows Media file. After digital media is encoded, it can be easily manipulated, distributed, and rendered played by computers, and is easily transmitted over computer networks. give some example of digital media devices

What is the difference between digital and analogues signals  Digital: digital signals are series of pulse that consisting just two states, on 1 or off 0. it is transmitted as digital signals. The diagram shows a typical oscilloscope trace of a digital signal.  Analogue signals: Music's and speech's vary continuously in frequency and amplitude..In the same way, analogue signals can vary in frequency, amplitude or both. he diagram shows a typical oscilloscope trace of an analogue signal.

Advantages of digital media  Advantages of digital media:  Less expensive.  More reliable.  Easy to manipulate.  Compatibility with other digital systems.  Integrated networks.  Only digitized information can be transported through a noisy channel without degradation  Disadvantages of digital media:  Require greater bandwidth to transmit the same information.  Limit in terms of bite rate and real time.  Historically data is stored on analogue media

Future of digital media  Holograms  video of playback from either a VCR or a digital media file can be controlled by the computer, allowing software-controlled jog, shuttle, and search functions.  One can create a time-event plot for a quick glance at the temporal structure of the observed process, or run specific analysis procedures and generate reports with statistics.  reviewed, and edited with synchronized display of the corresponding video images.
