TOOTH DECAY By: Kris Kalathas

What is tooth decay? Tooth decay which can also be called dental cavities is the destruction of the hard tissue (enamel) which is the tip of the tooth. The bacteria in the mouth releases acids the create holes in the tooth.

Why does the acid affect your teeth. In acids such as lactobacilli the acids have bacteria that dissolves your teeth enamel then the rest of your teeth. This is how people get cavities.

What is the acid that eats your teeth? The bacteria that eats your teeth are mainly lactobacilli and mutans streptococci they are attached with plaque a clear and sticky substance that sticks to your enamel. These bacteria release acids (primarily lactic acids) which create holes in your teeth.
