Low Carbon Interventions in Transition Cities with Urban-to-Global Linkage: “Urban industrial symbiosis along with early land use/transportation and energy planning is hypothesized to play a significant role in reducing GHG emissions in young industrializing Asian cities, preventing them from becoming locked into inefficient growth patterns seen in many mature U.S. cities as well as megacities in Asia.”

Specific Interventions 1) industrial symbiosis to promote reuse of water, energy, and material by-products across firms 2) transport and land use planning with Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) 3) sustainable energy generation incorporating water constraints in electricity sector planning 4) underserved community/slum area interventions (now linked with Week 4)

Implications for governance of water-energy nexus in India.
