Modified 4 th March 2012 Facilities inherited from HAQOCI Mpilo Hospital & Chitungwiza To support the MoHCC in improving infection prevention and control practices in health care facilities nationwide to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases, including TB, among patients. The refurbishment exercise will be conducted in selected health facilities with the guidance of MoHCC with the goal of reducing the risk of transmission of infections including TB in health care facilities. Objective is to support refurbishments/renovations of selected central, provincial, or district hospitals to ensure appropriate enviroment conditions in OPD’s & OI clinics to reduce the risk of transmission of airborne infections including TB through reduction of overcrowding in waiting areas, improved ventilation and improved patient flow waiting areas. 5 Year Project with objective to renovate least two facilities per year making a total of 10 for the project period Discussion and conclusion Mpilo Hospital OPD Asphalt Roof with major leaks destroying newly installed ceiling. Heavy water pipes, stones, glass were left above the roof resulting in damage to the water proofing Recommendation strip and lay new mastic asphalt on entire roof and water proof capping on parapet Mpilo Hospital OI Clinic. Water is unavailable in the hospital due to low pressure of existing water sources.
