Linac Weekly Operational Report May 9 th – May 16 th 2008

Weekly Linac Performance 7/7/2016Trevor Butler2 Ion Source Status Operational (I-) 53.2 mA Standby (H-)0 mA Linac Output 36. 8mA Loss Sum (Average) ~ % Uptime NTF will not treat today MTWThF Weekly Downtime (5.35 Hrs)  100 Klystron Trips during the week KRF6 Charging Supply (52 Mins) Adjusted CS Switch balance to bring back the station Currently working on repairing spare SCR switch to use in KRF6 KRF7 Ignitron Replacement (1.5 Hrs) Replaced Ignitron NL-7703 in Klystron modulator charging supply in an effort to isolate trips Still have occasional trips, which might be related to a temperature problem with the ignitron. NTF Treatment Schedule 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Next Week’s Forecast/Studies 7/7/2016Trevor Butler3 Continue to provide beam to HEP and NTF NTF treatment was cancelled for today, but will likely start up next week Run LE Linac test station. LRF7 A leak in the nitrogen filled amplifier cavity was found and fixed This station is in start up mode, getting ready to condition new switch tubes and new driver PA Investigate the Charging Supply Trip on KRF7 Installed mixed signal oscilloscope on Station 7 to catch any further trips Was able to capture trips on the scope that indicated that the ignitron was self-firing, so the ignitron tube was replaced, which reduced but did not eliminate all of the CS trips Replace Ignitron in HE Linac test station, KRF8 Currently are working on KRF8 to test new oscilloscope setup to further diagnose the trips. Investigate the Phase Controller issues on KRF4 The charging supply phase controller needs resets after each trip, causing extra time to recover If Opportunity Arises Continue Calibration of Klystron Solenoid flow meters Replace KRF6 klystron modulator charging supply SCR switch (2-3 hours)
