Excellence Awards Learning outcome: To know which Excellence Award you would like to do first

What is an Excellence Award? Science and Social subjects that is even more fun. Your choice!!

Whilst doing your Award you will: Problem solving Teamwork Hands on Investigate Display and share

Awards are currently available in the following topics: Marine and Freshwater Biology Changing Climate Practical Chemistry Medicine through time Energy Engineering Environmental Science Topical Science Space and Astronomy

Marine and Freshwater Biology All about what goes on in the seas, oceans, river and lochs of the world. Think “Finding Nemo”.

Changing Climate Find out how the world is changing and try to find out why. Is climate change for real? Write to the US President and make 3D models of the Earth.

Practical Chemistry Learn how to do lots of chemistry experiments and make some equipment yourself.

Medicine through time Become a doctor and figure out lives have been saved using medicine.

Energy Conduct experiments to find out about energy and why it is important in the world.

Engineering Become an engineer, design, build and find out about trains, bridges and the pyramids.

Environmental Science Try to figure out what you can do to help the Earth and make the world a better place.

Topical Science See what current scientific events and happening around you e.g. Swine flu.

Space and Astronomy Make models of the solar system, find out what kinds of stars there are and many other things that are out of this world!

How to achieve: 6 stars = Bronze Award 9 stars = Silver Award 12 stars = Gold Award Certificate for each level.

You do the work, with occasional input from parents and teacher.

Time to look through the sheets and pick 3 awards In groups of four look through the samples you are given and write down the order of the awards you would like to do onto the sheet. Make sure your FULL name is on it too.
