Presentation transcript:

Visitng Ysgol Y Bont During the visit the guest spent time in our school. They got to learn how we do things in a special needs school. How students communicate using different methods, e.g Makaton and PECS. Our Makaton teacher showed how talented our students are when they ‘sing and sign’ using Makaton. Also the cookery teacher worked with the older students to prepare a Welsh themed meal for the guest, this helped to develop many skills that they acquire in life. Some of the school governors came to meet our guests too.

Secondary school visit Since we are a special needs school, and the schools from the partner countries are secondary schools, we thought it would be of interest to them to visit the local secondary school. We took our visitors to Ysgol Gyfun Llangefni, where they had a tour of the school and gained some information about education in Wales by the headmaster.

Anglesey beaches Connection with the welsh folktale The Mabinogi. Many of Anglesey beaches appear in the stories. In Welsh mythology, Aberffraw features as the site of Branwen and Matholwch's wedding festival, where Efnysien maimed Matholwch's horses.Welsh mythologyBranwenMatholwchEfnysien /en-GB/beaches-975.aspx

The project involves activates based on our Past, Present and Future. It is then relevant to show the Comenius group some of Wales’ history. Industrial Wales Electric Mountain - First Hydro Company is one of the UK's most dynamic electricity generators, responsible for the management and operation of the pumped storage plants at Dinorwig and Ffestiniog in the Snowdonia region of Wales.

Welsh slate museum The National Slate Museum is sited in the Victorian workshops built in the shadow of Elidir mountain, site of the vast Dinorwig quarry. Here you can travel into the past of an industry and a way of life that has chiselled itself into the very being of this country. ac.uk/en/slate/ ac.uk/en/slate/

Beaumaris Goal Courtroom & Castle Beaumaris Gaol and Courtroom gives you a fascinating insight into the world of the prisoner in Victorian times. Beaumaris Castle on the Island of Anglesey is the great unfinished masterpiece. It was built as one of the 'iron ring' of North Wales castles by the English monarch Edward I, to stamp his authority on the Welsh. But it was never finished money and supplies ran out before the fortifications reached their full height.

Some local attractions is part of our students lives at present, and when they did work on the ‘present time’, it came up that they like to spend time in some of these places. Penyceunant tea rooms Café at the bottom of Snowdon where visitors can taste local produce. Snowdon (Welsh: Yr Wyddfa, is the highest mountain in Wales, at an altitude of 1,085 metres (3,560 ft) above sea level.
