ZEROTRADE SUB-PROJECT 2nd Steering Group Meeting 19th & 20th January 2012

Best Practices

Methodology: – Investigation of BP related to the project theme from several sources. – Definition of criteria for selection: Trade sector relationship.. Sustainability. Reduction of CO 2 emissions. Transfer feasibility.

Best Practices Once implemented the defined methodology, the selected BP are the following: – BP1: Eco-efficient shop ArcoPlaza – BP2: Life+ Green Commerce

BP1 – Eco-efficient shop ArcoPlaza

Project synthesis: – Use of a waste heat recovery system for air conditioning and water for hygienic use of a commercial area. – Extra cost for installation of the system (30% over a standard system) is quickly balanced due to energy savings up to 50%.

BP1 – Eco-efficient shop ArcoPlaza Keys on selection: – Store with strong tradition in our territory. – Remarkable growing ratio (starting from one single store to current 50+). – Recovery of a heritage and representative building. – Energy saving & sustainable system.

BP2 – Life+ Green Commerce

Project synthesis: – Involvement of small retail shops against climatic change, reduction of energy consumption and waste production by simple and easy measures. – Creation of European brand “Green Commerce”. – Scheduled seminars and workshops aimed to expand environmental awareness in trade sector.

Keys on selection: – Public Private cooperation model (local administration, private non-profit entities). – Potential to expand at European level due to presence of ACR+ as partner. – Development of environmental self-assessment tools easy to use by the small businesses. BP2 – Life+ Green Commerce

Best Practices Presentations of BP are planned for the next meeting (at home!), which will allow: – Review more detailed results and effects. – Site visit (BP1). – Add possible new BP’s.
