Presentation transcript:

Constructive and Destructive Forces

Plate : A section of Earth’s crust and mantle that fits together with other sections like puzzle pieces.

Earthquake : A shaking of the Earth’s surface, caused by movement of rocks in the crust.

Epicenter : the point of the Earth’s surface directly above the focus of an earthquake.

Fault : A crack in the Earth’s crust.

Magma : Melted rock that is beneath Earth’s surface.

Lava : molten rock that flows from a volcano onto Earth’s surface.

Volcano : A mountain that forms as molten rock flows through a crack onto Earth’s surface.

There are 3 types of Volcanoes : 1.Composite Volcanoes 2. Shield Volcanoes 3. Cinder Cone Volcanoes

Tectonic Plates

Ring of Fire

Delta : An area of new land at the mouth of a river.

Erosion : The process of moving sediment by wind, moving water, or ice.

Jetty : A wall like structure that sticks out into the ocean.

Landform : A natural land shape or feature.

Sand dune : A hill of sand, made and shaped by wind.

Sinkhole : A large hole formed when the roof of a cave collapses.

Topography : Surface landforms of an area.

Weathering : A process of breaking down rock.
