What is the Family Information Service?

There is a Family Information Service (FIS) in each of the 22 authorities in Wales. In Caerphilly county borough the service is operated by a small team of trained and dedicated staff based within the council offices in Ystrad Mynach. The Family Information Service provides information for Families Children Young People Professionals working with families

Caerphilly FIS is customer driven and has invested considerable time and effort into providing a quality service. We have achieved :- Welsh Assembly Government Minimum Standards in 2005 Youth Support Service Quality Mark in October 2009 NAFIS/Daycare Trust Families First Quality Award in 2010 and 2013 Embarking on Investors in Families Award

Best practice in terms of equality of opportunity, respecting diversity and commitment to the quality and impartiality of service is always paramount. High quality information and information management are an integral part of the Family Information Service. We offer a safe, free and impartial way to get a range of information that equips families, children, young people and professionals working with families with information, advice and assistance about finding the right childcare, activities, recreation and support.

Everyone within the borough has 24 hour access to the FIS through our website and on- line directory. Information can be accessed at the click of a button, from home, work, school as well as local libraries.
