Ani-Aabawa miinawaa omaa Bapashkominitigong. Its starting to warm up again on the Fond du Lac Reservation. Ezhegiiwemagak

Mii azhigwa ji- ozhiga’igeyang. Its time to tap Maple trees again. Ezhegiiwemagak

Kawe dash gibiindaakoojigemin, maagizhaa gidashangemin gaye. First however, we offer tobacco, perhaps we feast as well. Ezhegiiwemagak

Mii dash ge-zhi- ozhiga’igeyang. And then we tap Maple Trees. Ezhegiiwemagak

Apii dash mikawad Ininaatig, giwii- pagone’aa, biiminigan aabajitooyan. When you find a maple tree, you will poke a hole in him using a drill. Ezhegiiwemagak

Mii dash ge-zhi- bakite’aman negwaakwaan biinjayi’iing Ininaatigong. And then you tap the tap inside the Maple Tree. Ezhegiiwemagak

Mii dash ge-zhi- agoodooyan agoojiganaabik imaa negwaakwaaning. And then you hang the metal hanger on the tap. Ezhegiiwemagak

Mii dash ge-zhi- baabiitooyang ji-ni- maajiigaag. And then we (inclusive) wait for (the sap) to start running. Ezhegiiwemagak

Apii dash mayaajigaag, mii ge- zhi-naadoobiiyang. After (the sap) runs, then we collect it (the sap). Ezhegiiwemagak

Jibwaa dash iskigamizigeyang, giwii- naazikawaanaan Zhingob. Before we boil however, we will get Balsam Fir. Ezhegiiwemagak

Zhingokaandag ji- ozhi’ang. Mii iwe ji- biitesinook iskigamiziganaaboo. So we can make Balsam Boughs. That way the boiling sap won’t bubble/foam up. Ezhegiiwemagak

Mii ge-zhi- iskigamizigeyang biinish igo zhiiwigamiziganaaboo aawang. For sure we will boil it (sap) down until it becomes syrup. Ezhegiiwemagak

Mii iwe gaa-pi- miinigooziyang gichi- mewinzha. That is what was given to us long ago. Ezhegiiwemagak

That is all!
