In the early Medieval era meat was a sign of wealth It was important for food to have a good visual effect Food was often decorated All food could be found in local or city markets Food had to be bought fresh because there were no preservatives Meats were found in livestock markets PowerPoint Clip Art

Food could be prepared in a variety of ways; Spit roasting, baking, boiling, smoking, salting, or frying Lots of the cooking was done over an open flame Most utensils used for cooking were pots, pans, kettles, skillets, and cauldrons Knives, ladles, meat forks, and scissors were used Power Point Clip Art

Sugar was used much more in the Elizabethan era Fruit trees and bee hives were also cultivated in this era Biscuits were invented by the crusaders Bread and cheese was a staple of the lower class workers diet Both from Power Point Clip Art
