Task 1 Imagine you are asked to make and carry out a simple plan to melt the ice cube. Use your knowledge of inquiry and the scientific method to explain your plan.

Task 2 Look at this picture. The temperature probe in Figure 1 reads 8 o C. Is the temperature of the water in the beaker closer to the freezing point or the boiling point? ________________ Is all the water in the beaker pictured frozen? ________ What is the temperature change needed for all the water to freeze into a solid?
