In ancient Greece you cant kill, steal or disturb citizens. If you do you will get a fine, or get kicked out of the country. Only few people got put in jail. It was costly to build and run. There were no police, so the victims had to put down the criminals name. like to today for trial. The jurors are picked randomly. The minimum number of jurors needed were 201. Some trials had up to 1000 jurors. ANCIENT GREECE CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS

In Rome today you cannot even compare how different the crimes and punishments are from the past. Although in Rome they did have crimes like murder and stealing the punishments were much more severe. First of all if they would curse their g- d, which was worst of all, because the Romans were very religious you would be crucified which means being nailed to a cross. The Romans also crucified thieves and murderers to so that people would stop doing it. However in Rome they had a another punishment which was very strange. You would put a gladiator suit on and fight against wild animals. They did this to be entertained and at the same time try to get rid of criminals. ANCIENT ROME CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS.

In most countries if you steal you will get a fine or go to court at most. For murder you will be sent to jail. They don’t make you fight as gladiators any more. These days when people do stupid things the punishments are much more different including paying a fine or going to court or paying the ultimate penalty witch is going to jail MODERN DAY CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS.
