Why did the U.S. enter WWI? 1. Sinking of U.S. boats 2. Intercepting the telegram between Germany and Mexico 3. Russia pulls out of the war

What role did Women play during WWI?  Worked in factories  Worked as secretaries  Took over men’s jobs

What are the terms to making a fair treaty? 1. Must be made in a neutral country 2. All countries involved must be represented 3. Terms need to be realistic

What is capitalism?  Economic system based on private ownership and investment

What was the Great Purge?  A campaign where Stalin killed anyone who opposed him.

What were the causes of the Great Depression?  U.S. still producing like they were still at war, the use of credit, and the use of credit on the stock market

What was the Dawes Plan?  an effort to restore economic well-being in Germany by getting money from the U.S.

What was the New Deal?  Roosevelt’s economic plan to help the U.S. get out of the Great Depression by increasing government spending.

What are the MAIN causes of WWI? Militarism Alliance System Imperialism Nationalism

Why did the Chinese Civil War temporarily stop?  The Japanese were trying to take over China.

What protest is Mohandis K. Gandhi most known for?  The Salt March

What is blitzkrieg?  Also known as the lightning war; it was a German military strategy of surprise attacked which used tanks, planes, and troops.

Why did Russia pull out of WWI? They were have their own Communist Revolution

Who were the members of the Allies in WII?  Great Britain, France, Soviet Union, and the U.S.

What is genocide?  Systematic killing of a group of people based on race or religion

What is communism?  An economic system where all means of production are owned by the people

What is Kristallnacht?  Night of the broken glass where Nazis attacked Jewish businesses, homes, and synagogues

What are concentration camps?  Camps where Jewish prisoners were taken and worked to death.

What was the final solution?  Hitler’s program of systematically killing the Jewish people.

Who were the Nazis?  German political party that believed the Aryans were the master race

Why did the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor?  The United States cut off Japan’s oil supply and was given money to their enemy Japan.

Why was the Battle of Midway important?  It was a turning point in the war in the Pacific against the Japanese
