June 2007Dirk Wiedner / PH/LBO-DO1 INB Database for LHCb How to ensure the traceability of material from the controlled area

June 2007Dirk Wiedner / PH/LBO-DO2 Zoning in LHCb 1/2 Supervised Area Controlled Area Shield

June 2007Dirk Wiedner / PH/LBO-DO3 Zoning in LHCb 2/2 Conventional Waste Zone Radioactive Waste Zone Definition of Zones based on 2 years of cool down

June 2007Dirk Wiedner / PH/LBO-DO4 Irradiation Data Base All material in controlled area must be traceable Removable parts must carry identifiers Position information required Material composition stored where applicable Dose rate and dose measurement will go to data base Material installed in a radioactive waste zone must be distinguished

June 2007Dirk Wiedner / PH/LBO-DO5 Proposed Material Exit Procedure All material must be identified when leaving the controlled area –A scanning device reads the barcode label –The transfer of the material from the controlled area is entered in the data base The dose/dose rate value from residual activity is added/updated in the database –High activation values or origin from waste zone especially noted –Web base transmission of values to DB proposed by ATLAS colleagues Possibility of registering and labeling material at point 8 must be foreseen –Subparts must be registered see below

June 2007Dirk Wiedner / PH/LBO-DO6 Radiation measurement Scan Item ID Scan or Input user name Transfer activation measurement ?

June 2007Dirk Wiedner / PH/LBO-DO7 Scanner Interface Web based ID entered via scanner Board, cable, crate or rack category Properties displayed Source: ATLAS

June 2007Dirk Wiedner / PH/LBO-DO8 List of properties stored NAMEDetector Module Short 3 Lower‘readable’ name ITEM_ID4TOFIADS300104Unique identifier CAT_NAMEDETECTOR_PARTCategory (board, cable, detector_part) AMB_DOSE_EQU0Dose measured AMB_EQU_DOSE_RATE0Rate measured ORIGINOuter Trackersubsystem WASTE_ZONEnoNuclear waste zone flag X-85X position relative to IP, see nominalplacements Y1392Y position relative to IP Z7848Z position relative to IP HIGH_ACTIVATION_FLAG-Was item ever above threshold? NUCLEAR_WASTE_FLAG-Was item ever in nuclear waste zone? LAST_CHANGE04/18/ :20:23Time stamp INS_CHANGE_DELIInsert, change or delete of entry

June 2007Dirk Wiedner / PH/LBO-DO9 Treatment of parameters Initially all installed parts get an entry in the ‘ACTIVATION_LOG’ table Every change of position or other property is entered, history is kept The unique identifier establishes relation to more specific properties Components of parts –Same identifier as parent or –New identifier, set link to parent in DB

June 2007Dirk Wiedner / PH/LBO-DO10 Data Base location INB data base is part of the installation data base Master data base will be at point 8 Slave data base (read only) at IT Regular or permanent mirroring foreseen

June 2007Dirk Wiedner / PH/LBO-DO11 Summary INB data base ensures full traceability of material in controlled area INB data base is technically based on installation data base User friendly web based interfaces established by ATLAS/IT

June 2007Dirk Wiedner / PH/LBO-DO12 Next steps Complete database entries for parts in the controlled area Ensure the labeling on detector parts Add triggers to update part properties Investigate possibilities to read activation values to data base
