General information about the Humboldt High School (HHS) 1400 students full-time school with afternoon care trust teachers (consulting with team concept in crises, conflicts, disasters) Projects: Schule ohne Rassismus «» Schule mit Courage (school without racism «» school with courage)

General information about Community School Holweide (CSH) inclusive school 1800 students (36 nationalities) cooperativ learning Projects: MiBoCap for students with migration background and disability Comenius 2008/2010

In the age of 14 to 16 years, 85 adolescents from the Humboldt Gymnasium and 63 from the Community School Holweide in grade nine were asked aubout their experience with racissm:

Significant difference between the two schools !! At CSH, a majority of students had an experience with racism At HHS, less than half of the students were confronted with racism. A suprising share does not take serious the survey In both school girls are more expost to discrimination than boys

What is your attitude toward racism?

Around half of the students find it important to do something against racism. A large majority (70-90%) would intervene if they become aware of somebody being discriminated. However only every tenth student is active against racism
