He was born in 1977 in Germany. His father is German and his mother is from Ireland.

When Michael was a child, his parents moved to Killarney, a little town in Ireland.

Now he says that he has an Irish soul, but he speaks German well too.

He decided that he wanted to be an actor at age 17. At 19 he moved to London to study at the Drama Centre London.

At first Michael’s career wasn’t successful. He didn’t get the roles he want and he starred in commercials and TV series.

His first big commercial success film was 300 (300 Spartans in Russian title) in He played Stelios, a young Spartan warrior.

In 2008 he showed himself as an independent film actor. Hunger is one of the most tragical films in his career.

In 2009 Michael played in Inglorious Basterds, the Quentin Tarantino’s film.

Teenagers can know him from the blockbusters about X-Men, where he played Magneto.

He also has been to Russia :)

His future projects are the film adaptation of Assassin’s creed and the film about Steve Jobs.

For fifteen-year career Michael starred more than 40 films and serials. Critics love him, he is a stunning actor!

In 2013 he was nominated at Oscar for his role of the slave owner in 12 Years A Slave film, but he didn’t win it.

Also Michael was nominated at Golden Globe awards twice.
