Early Life  William Kidd was born in Greenock, Scotland in  According to myth, his father was thought to have been a minister of Scotland church.  His father died when he was young, and at the age of five, Kidd moved to New York where he befriended many famous colonial citizens.  Some believe that Kidd was a seaman's apprentice on a pirate ship before his piracy days.

William Kidd’s Ship  William Kidd’s flag was the ordinary cross bone and skull.  William Kidd had two ships in his piracy life, the Blessed Kidd and the Adventure Galley.

Hunting for Pirates  William Kidd was asked by governor Bellomont to hunt for pirates and any enemy French Ships.  Unfortunately most of Kidd’s best sailors left him for Royal Naval ships and he was forced to recruit new crew members in which most of them were smugglers and pirates.  After much failure, Kidd’s crew tried to mutiny him but Kidd fought and killed his gunner where he gained much of the authority he needed.

Downfall  Kidd captured a ship known as Quedah Merchant, a ship that belonged to the East India Company.  Kidd became wanted for piracy.  He was captured and put on trial for piracy.  He was found guilty and sentenced to death on 1701.

Buried Treasure  According to legend, it is thought that before Kidd was captured he buried a large treasure on Long Island that has yet to be found.
